Stake Holders Meet on Power Quality Improvement for Better Tomorrow & Changing Energy Markets"

  • 06 Jul, 2022
  • 10:30 AM -

In today’s technologically advanced world, modern man depends so much upon continuous supply of electrical energy. The major world economies demand not only enough but equally clean power for continued functioning of a wide array of appliances and equipment for everyday safety, security, mobility, and economic welfare. Improving the quality and reliability of electricity power supply has been a major factor behind deregulation and electricity reforms globally. The problem of the power quality (PQ) cost in industrial customers is particularly important at present in the new scenery of competitive electricity markets. In fact, it represents the added value that the electric suppliers can provide to the users for improving their productivity and the reliability of their industrial process. The industry must compare the cost of the PQ services provided by the utilities with the cost derived from damage to the production output and/or to the plants. While the latter is easy to define because it is related to the physical replacement of some equipment, the cost of production losses is not simple to monetize.

Further, Energy markets are currently evolving due to the rapid digitalization, growth of renewable energy sources, and rapid technology development. Market actors are being forced to adapt their business models to these changes.  As consumers are becoming more central actors in the energy markets via demand flexibility and new type of services, it is critical to design the solutions that are user-centric way.

With this perspective in view, ASSOCHAM in partnership with Department of Power, Govt. of West Bengal is hosting a stakeholders meet on “Power Quality Improvement for Better Tomorrow and Changing Energy Markets” on 6th July 2022 at “Upbeat”, International Institute of Hotel Management, DM – 3&4, Sector – V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700091, Near Wipro More / Techno India University.
