  • 23 Apr, 2022

We are glad to apprise that ASSOCHAM National Council for Arbitration and Mediation and AICADR are organizing conference on “EASE OF JUSTICE IN INDIA @ Future of Arbitration, Mediation, and Conciliation" on Saturday, 23rd April 2022 in New Delhi at 3:00 PM.

About Conference:
India's pace of the economic development over the last few decades has a considerable increase in the number of commercial disputes. It is widely known that India's traditional judiciary system is heavily overloaded with number of cases and a delay in delivery of justice has adversely impacted to the economy of businesses and country as a whole. Internationally, the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism being it a faster and cost-effective method has received an overwhelming acceptance and India, too has responded positively for its adoption.

The Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 has been modelled on lines of the UNCITRAL (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) framework of laws with the idea to modernize Indian arbitration law and bring it in line with the best global practices. Also, last year, The Mediation Bill, 2021 was introduced in Rajya Sabha which focuses to promote and facilitate mediation, especially institutional mediation, for resolution of disputes, commercial or otherwise. The bill also seeks to promote online mediation and provide for enforcement of settlement agreements resulting from mediation.

The government has come up with some recent amendments with the creation of Arbitration Council of India, by amending The Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 in 2019 with an objective to promote and encourage arbitration. Similarly, The Mediation Bill, 2021 will also mandate the creation of The Mediation Council of India with an aim to promote mediation and to develop India as a robust centre for domestic and international mediation. In view of emerging developments, India is progressing to become a global hub for arbitration and mediation.

Apropos to above and to discuss the trends, and challenges being faced by the existing framework and ecosystem of Arbitration and Mediation as well as opportunities going forward, ASSOCHAM National Council for Arbitration and Mediation is organizing the National Conference "Ease of Justice in India @ Future of Arbitration, Mediation, and Conciliation” in New Delhi on Saturday, 23 April 2022.

The conference aims at deliberations from legal, juridical persons, enforcement as well as tech experts on recent trends, opportunities and challenges in the ecosystem of justice delivery in India. Also, the conference will have deliberations on the futuristic applications of technological, AI and robotic advancements which are transforming the case handling and procedures under Arbitration, Mediation, and Conciliation in an expedited manner.
