3rd National Summit Trade Finance For Inclusive Growth

  • 22 Jul, 2022
  • 10:00 AM - 02:00

Global trade reached record high value of USD 28.5 trillion in 2021 indicating recovery from major disruptions due to COVID-19 pandemic. A deeper analysis reveals that the recovery has not been uniform across industries, countries and regions which indicates structural changes in global trade and continuation of disruptions to supply chains. The future of trade remains uncertain as it faces multiple challenges arising out of geo-political issues, sanctions, shifts in policy from multilateralism to bilateralism, increased burden of compliance and environmental degradation to name a few. Disruptions due to Covid-19 led to financial stress on the entire trade ecosystem, especially SMEs which are at the core of global trade and have traditionally been underserved by financial institutions Trade financing played a crucial role in the recovery of global trade in the post-pandemic period and innovations in trade financing will be key to shaping the future of trade.
