Intellectual Property Rights

The ASSOCHAM Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Council is actively engaged in advancing the protection, promotion, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in India. As a leading Industry Policy Forum, the Council works to strengthen awareness, encourage innovation, and promote effective public policy and regulatory frameworks that support India's knowledge economy and business competitiveness.

The Council serves as a platform for regular engagement between industry, government, policymakers, legal experts, and other stakeholders, providing an effective interface to address issues related to intellectual property rights. ASSOCHAM's contributions include capacity-building initiatives, training programmes, conferences, and knowledge-sharing sessions for industry, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and academia to strengthen the country's IPR ecosystem.

Under the ASSOCHAM National Council on IPR, the ASSOCHAM Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (AIPFC) works to create widespread awareness about the strategic importance of intellectual property through comprehensive training, advisory, and capacity-building programmes. The Centre enables MSMEs to identify, protect, commercialise, and effectively manage their intellectual property assets by providing IP protection, counselling, advisory, and technology management services.

AIPFC also delivers strategic policy advocacy and advisory support to MSMEs, helping them leverage intellectual property as a driver of innovation, business competitiveness, and sustainable growth. By strengthening IPR awareness and adoption, the Centre empowers enterprises to build competitive advantage and contribute to the growth of India's innovation ecosystem and the Indian economy.
