Webinar on Rising Opportunities in Affordable Housing

The real estate market is one of the significant economic activities for any nation. As the world continues to grow and change with times, so do their requirements in terms of housing, businesses, and more. While the ongoing pandemic has adversely affected all economic activities across countries, India’s recovery is underway.  India’s real estate market had been passing through turbulent waters in recent years. However, for the past few months, it has started showing recovery for the real estate in general and residential real estate in particular. Largely driven by affordable and mid-segment housing, residential realty is expected to continue to get strong push from the end users, putting real estate on a sustained growth path. Launched in 2015, the Housing for All Mission is Government of India’s initiative to create affordable housing spaces for the economically backward living in urban zones. Various Schemes and incentives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) and the GST rate cut for the affordable housing segment-have been made to help the economically weaker section. The lessons learnt in 2021 with respect to resilience and adaptability will stand us in good stead. The continuous affordability, supported by an improving economy and digital marketing will keep the momentum of end-user demand. Especially with supply keeping pace with demand, there will be sustained recovery and growth, notwithstanding anticipated increase in home loan rates. It’s estimated that by the year 2030 more than 40% of the Indian population will live in urban India as against the current figure of 35%, which will create additional demand for affordable units with huge investment opportunities for private equity players.
