Symposium on Industry 4.0

  • 09 Nov, 2023

Industry 4.0 is no longer a buzzword or nice to have technology in our various sectors, especially the MANUFACTURING sector. The 4th Industrial revolution, driven by smart, interconnected devices leading to smart autonomous factories, is a significant program for enhancing competitiveness and growth of Indian industry.

The Indian government plans to raise the National GDP to 10 Trillion USD in the next 10 years and the share of the manufacturing sector to 25% of GDP through a slew of measures including Atma Nirbhar, Make in India and Digital India mission. The success of this mission depends on not only large enterprises but millions of MSMEs that add 60 to 70% of the value addition in the products especially in the engineering and automotive sectors.

Large Industries & MNCs are ready to replace traditional manufacturing with Smart Manufacturing, whereas MSMEs lack awareness and the will to adopt the new technologies. MSMEs will require policy support and infrastructure from the State as well as Union government, besides financial incentives to accelerate the initial adoption. MSMEs would then realise the Business Value generated by adoption of such tools for their day-to-day operations. Since 2017, Ministry of Heavy Industry (MHI) has been supporting the development of several technology centers across the Nation to support small and medium industries to adopt Industry 4.0. Yet adoption is slow and there is an urgent need to debate and overcome the bottlenecks.

ASSOCHAM Southern Region has created a Forum of Industry 4.0 experts, which aims to bring awareness and hand holding for MSME through several innovative means such as Hub & Spoke model between OEMs and their Supply Chain MSMEs towards making a digitally enabled ecosystem industry. The first milestone of this 3-year roadmap is to conduct a series of ROADSHOWS in various industrial clusters. Keeping the above context ASSOCHAM Southern Region is organizing a one- day Symposium on ACCELERATING ADOPTION of AFFORDABLE & APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGIES of INDUSTRY 4.0 FOR KARNATAKA LARGE, MEDIUM & SMALL INDUSTRIES TOWARDS 1 TRILLION USD ECONOMY’on 9th November 2023at The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore.
