India Gas Infrastructure Conference

  • 18 Sep, 2025

India's gas industry has seen significant growth, with the government aiming to boost the proportion of natural gas in the energy portfolio from around 6.5% now to 15% by 2030. The transition is essential to help boost cleaner energy options and lessen reliance on coal and oil. India's gas pipeline infrastructure has expanded considerably in recent decades, with over 22,000 km of working pipes. The National Gas Grid, with the objective of increasing inter-regional connectivity and the smooth transport of gas all over the nation along with the development of regional pipelines, is central to facilitating the increase in consumption of gas.

City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks are growing fast, serving millions of residential consumers and commercial consumers with piped natural gas and compressed natural gas (CNG). India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) import facilities are also being enhanced, with gasification capacity poised to almost double over the next few years to keep up with increasing demand.

India's gas infrastructure is undergoing transformation which will be instrumental in its energy security vision, but several success factors, enablers and building blocks are required for it to grow. Impact of United Tariffs on CGD & Gas Markets, Pipeline and LNG Terminal Bottlenecks, Development & Maintenance Challenges, Domestic Production & Import Dependency is a necessity to meet this vision.

To discuss the above and related issues, ASSOCHAM is organizing 'India Gas Infrastructure Conference: Augmenting Role of Gas in India’s Energy Mix – 2030 & Beyond' on 18th September 2025 in New Delhi.
