India’s education sector is poised for substantial growth, estimated to reach USD 225 billion by FY25. With Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows of USD 9.44 billion from April 2000 to September 2023 and edtech startups attracting USD 3.94 billion in FY22, India remains a key player in the global education landscape. 

Odisha, a fast emerging as economic powerhouse has recognized the importance of holistic educational reforms. The education and skilling sector of the state is emerging as a trend setter, with the presence of large number of engineering and IT institutions.  The state is working towards a new education policy aligning with NEP 2020. The policy aims to advance holistic educational reforms, including offering legal, medical, and engineering courses in Odia. It will also enhance digital learning by establishing state-of-the-art computer labs in government schools, introduce STEM education with tech industry collaboration, and start coding classes from the sixth grade.

As we move forward in this technology-driven era, it is essential that education transcends mere tools and systems, preparing individuals with the social and emotional skills needed for sustainability and well-being. Education 5.0, which aligns with Industry 5.0, merges technological advancements with human collaboration to create a more comprehensive approach to learning.
