MedTech Mitra paves the way for Make in India products in diagnostics industry for healthcare system: Dr. (Prof.) V K Paul, Member, Niti Aayog

Promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat in manufacturing can make India a hub for diagnostics said Chief guest Dr.(Prof.) V K Paul, Member, Niti Aayog at the ASSOCHAM Conference on Diagnostics highlighting the significance of diagnostics as the heart of healthcare. The realisation of Vision Viksit Bharat 2047 necessitates self-sufficiency through  Make in India focus. The Make in India thrust in healthcare  by the Govt of India has been well catalysed by initiatives like National Med Tech policy; R&D in pharma and biotic sectors; PLI schemes.

Medtech Mitra is an overarching and inclusive initiative launched by ICMR which will encourage more regulatory aligned and sustainable innovation in diagnostics for national and global markets. It is an end-to-end guidance from ideation to delivery for start-ups as well as organisations expanding into diagnostics.

There is a need for advanced diagnostic equipment to diagnose the early signs of a condition or disease. Frontline technology and individual care with integrated systems needs to be improved, he added.

Delivering his keynote address Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ Ltd. focused on how Private consultation within the healthcare industry is increasingly leveraging AI variables to revolutionize diagnostics. The democratisation of diagnosis through technology ensures that advanced healthcare becomes accessible to all, regardless of location. By embracing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, we can accelerate this transformation, integrating private expertise and public resources to create scalable, sustainable diagnostic solutions. He continued by saying "Together, these innovations are shaping the future of healthcare, driving efficiency, reducing costs, and improving patient outcomes across the nation."

In his special address Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder & Chairman, Mahajan Imaging & Labs talked about Integrated diagnostics, which combines pathology, lab medicine, microbiology, and radiology, is rapidly gaining traction as the ideal approach for healthcare. The vision is to move towards a unified diagnostic model, where a single diagnosis streamlines patient care. With advancements in deep learning and machine learning, this future is within reach, empowering faster and more accurate healthcare solutions. Supported by the 'Make in India' initiative, we have the potential to not only revolutionize healthcare delivery but also position India as a global leader in integrated diagnostics and cutting-edge medical technologies.

In his welcome address Dr. Ravi Gaur – Conference Chairman and Founder & Director DRG Path Lab said Bridging the gap between rural and urban healthcare demands innovative solutions that combine cutting-edge digital technology with smart diagnostics. In today's evolving landscape, service tools and manufacturing advancements are key, but they must be paired with intelligent diagnostics to truly unlock their potential. The focus on tier 1 and tier 2 cities highlights the need for scalable, accessible healthcare solutions that cater to diverse populations.

Mr. Vineet Gupta, National - Chairman, National Council for medical Devices & Diagnostics and Head- Government Affairs, Siemens Healthineers shared how Diagnostics form a crucial pillar of India's healthcare strategy, with diagnostics accounting for 16% of hospital expenses. The rising prevalence of both communicable and non-communicable diseases, coupled with increase in per capita income and expanding medical insurance coverage, are driving this sector's growth. The future lies in harnessing IT infrastructure, AI, and faster, more accurate diagnostics to improve access and reduce human error.

Mr. Dinesh Arora, Co-Chair, National Council for medical Devices & Dy. CEO and VP, Purple MicroPort Cardiovascular India humbly conveyed vote of thanks to august audience and esteemed speakers.
