“A healthy lifestyle is the bedrock for all other success. When our kids are healthy, they achieve”- By Kevin Corrinet

Worldwide, about 1.3 billion young people are enrolled in primary and secondary schools across 241 countries. In India, about 1.52 million public and private schools, employ 9 million teachers and staff to educate 260 million prekindergarten through grade 12 students every school day, usually for 13 of the most formative years of their lives. The health and well-being of such young people is not a matter of luck. It is not a chance or random event. It must be a planned outcome. The case for well-designed, well-resourced, and sustained health education in the nation’s schools is compelling.

Schools play a critical role in promoting the health of young people and helping them establish lifelong healthy lifestyle & behaviors. It is a proven fact that healthier children learn better, and, reciprocally, more educated adults lead healthier, more productive, wealthier, and longer lives. More specifically, children learn better if they are not malnourished, obese, physically and mentally unfit, abusing alcohol or drugs or needing medical attention.

The wellbeing of students is an important consideration for a country to make, as it is school children who represent a country’s future potential. Ensuring that there is adequate access to support for a range of health issues which may afflict school children, and that screening efforts and preventative measures are undertaken, is vital for keeping students healthy and strengthening the wellbeing of the nation as a whole.

In view of the above, ASSOCHAM is organizing NATIONAL SCHOOL HEALTHCARE SYMPOSIUM with a theme on “Redefine Health for Children & Adolescents” on June 13, 2019 at Hotel Le-Méridien (Sovereign Hall – 2), New Delhi with an aim to consolidate, strengthen, disseminate and share research, policy and practice in the field of health promotion in schools. The Conference focus will be on better health, well-being education for all through school-based health promotion, working in partnership between education and health towards social progress and sustainable development.

On behalf of ASSOCHAM, we cordially invite your esteemed organization to kindly support this initiative by becoming the partner of the symposium which is in the best of interest of our children vis-à-vis the future of nation.

The Symposium will also host Healthy School Awards for recognizing Schools for their achievements in supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of their pupils.
